Our group of MDs and DOs are unique because they realize that Western medicine, in many cases, can be enhanced by including other complimentary alternative and holistic techniques. Prescribing manufactured medicines and reacting to illness is only part of the picture. The new revolution in wellness incorporates a broad range of healing and preventative disciplines that, together, improve quality of life- and often lengthen it. MDs and DOs have basically the same training , but DOs have a more thorough introduction to traditional osteopathic techniques. The specialties of our group range from Family Practice to Internal Medicine to Oncology. As consultants to Lodi Integrative Wellness and to Holistic Health of America, LLC, these physicians are not here to practice Western medicine, but are here to help our member patients experience a better quality of life by expanding the horizons of what we have available.
Russell Steele, MD
Family Practice
Russ is a respected clinician who has devoted his life to blending leading technology with traditional medicine. An expert in 12-step programs, he brings a commitment to interdisciplinary medicine and wellness. He is medical director of the Lodi Memorial Outpatient Clinics. A graduate of Stanford medical School, he completed his internship and residency at the University of Oregon Medical School. Dr. Steele has practiced medicine in Lodi since 1968.
Rajeev Shukla, MD
Internal Medicine
Dr. Shukla graduated from the University or Toronto Medical School in Toronto, Ontario, where he also completed his medical internship. Raj was board certified in Internal Medicine in 1994 and was recertified in 2004. From 1994-2003 he was an emergency room physician at Lodi Memorial Hospital. Since that time, he has been an urgent care physician at Lodi Memorial's urgent care clinic since 2003.
Harvey Gilbert, MD
Radiation Oncology
Medical Director
Dr. Gilbert founded the Ben Schaffer Cancer Institute in the fall of 1997. After medical school at the University of Missouri in 1965, he did a tour of duty in Vietnam. He received his
Radiation Oncology training at the Mt. Zion Hospital in SF and UCLA. He conducted immunology training at Stanford as well. A prolific contributor to the oncology literature, he has edited or co-edited 13 oncology texts and authored or co-authored more than 40 articles on oncology. He has given many educational talks and presentations. Dr. Gilbert is the Medical Director of the Ben Schaffer Cancer Institute in Lodi, California.
Ed Freund, MD
Family Practice
Dr. Freund is a dedicated physician who has been the Medical Director of the emergency room at Lodi Memorial Hospital since 2002. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1978. After completing his family practice residency at San Joaquin General Hospital in 1981, he had a successful private practice in Lodi from 1981 to 2002and was known for his patient interactions and clinical astuteness.
Travers McLoughlin, MD
Radiation Oncology
Dr. McLoughlin completed his internship
at Downstate University in Brooklyn, NY
and completed his residency at Cornell University and St. Luke's Hospital in New York City. As an oncologist, he is particularly interested in treating cancer of many sites. He has played an integral
role in creating holistic programs for cancer patients.
Richard Yee, DO
Family Practice
Dr. Yee attended medical school at the Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he graduated in 2001. He completed his internship and residency in Family Practice Medicine at the San Joaquin General Hospital, an affiliate of the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. He finished in June 2004. That same year, Dr. Yee also achieved his board certification from the American Board of Family Practice. He has practiced in Lodi, Ca since june 2004. He is eager to blend alternative medical treatments with Western techniques to obtain the best results for his patients
